Q: How many years have you been at VaxPro?
A: This is my first year at VaxPro.
Q: What are your favorite things about working our flu clinics?
A: I really enjoy going into the different businesses, learning about what they do and interacting with their employees. I've always enjoyed the education part of nursing. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about the flu vaccine and at VaxPro we have an opportunity to educate the public regarding the vaccine and influenza.
Q: What's your take on this past flu season and how do we prevent it from getting severe in the future?
A: I think the best way to prevent the flu is to educate the public about the benefit of getting vaccinated. It's also important to vaccinate early. This year the flu started to circulate earlier than usual. It takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to reach its full potential therefore it's important to vaccinate before the season starts.
Q: What experiences do you have that has helped you at VaxPro?
A: I've worked in a hospital and taken care of patients with influenza and seen first hand how sick patients with influenza can become. I've also managed a healthcare clinic where I've spent time vaccinating and educating patients on the importance of getting vaccinated not only to protect yourself but others around you.
Q: Were you or anyone you know affected by the flu this year?
A: Luckily I've not had any direct contact with the flu this year. It's important to me to make sure all members of my family are vaccinated.
